Announcing a new funded project! Gendered sporting bodies: Exploring environmental influences on the 'gendering' of girls' sports injuries

EDGE Lab is excited to announce we have received federal funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to support the application of our Gendered Environmental Approach to youth athlete sport settings in Manitoba, Canada.

With our community partner, Sport Manitoba, we aim to explore how gendered sport environments may create the conditions for increased injury risk for girls during their adolescent sport development phase in traditionally male dominated sports (lacrosse, baseball, & football). The results will be used to create multi-media educational resources to support change within the sport system.

Dr. Joanne Parsons and Dr. Stephanie Coen are the principal investigators on this project, supported by our brilliant interdisciplinary and international Collaborative Network.
